No he hecho caso y sigue funcionando perfecto. Ya le gané 14 días.

I bought a townhouse last August. The doorknob and deadbolt were freakishly close together, so a traditional smartlock would not fit. I would have had to drill a new hole and have a whole new lock mechanism installed in order to get a smartlock. I’ve been using regular keys like a plebe for months. I hate everything about the inconvenience of using keys and was living in constant fear of accidentally locking myself out of the house.

I finally saw the August smartlock as an ad and a lightbulb went off. It looked like it would actually fit! I purchased the one with the keypad to mount outside and installed it two days ago. I LOVE this smartlock. It works exactly as expected and I have no concerns. No more digging through my purse for my keys while I’m carrying groceries and coffee and holding a dog leash etc etc! No more constant fear of locking myself out! And I can share access to a friend/pet sitter/etc!

The auto-unlock feature slaps. When I get home from work and approach my front steps the door just unlocks for me. The only thing I’ve found that could be slightly better is that when I’m walking my dog around the neighborhood, it won’t consider me in “away” mode because I didn’t go that far. It won’t auto-unlock unless you go into away mode first. With that said it’s not a big deal because I have the keypad I can use so I can still enjoy key-free walks.

It also has wifi built into it already which is nice if you want to be able to lock/unlock your door remotely. However as others have mentioned, the wifi can drain the batteries faster. This model (4th gen) allows you to disable wifi altogether or link it with a bluetooth/wifi bridge instead if you’d prefer to extend battery life. I personally just turned the wifi off. Since I have the keypad if I ever needed an unplanned guest to enter, I’ll just give them a code.

I will say as far as installation, I wouldn’t say it was hard but it took me like 30 minutes, not 10. Mostly because I didn’t realize the pointy bit on the big round part had to be pointing more towards the hinge side of the door when you first put it on. Like if I’m facing my door and the hinges are on the left, the pointy bit has to be pointing at about 10:00 when placed. I was pointing it the other direction and it wouldn’t lock that way. I had to watch a few youtube tutorials to figure out what I was doing wrong.

I am grateful for this product. I think it’s the only thing on the market that would have fit my door and it works completely as expected if not better. It seems like such a small thing but it’s really life-changing and I’ve honestly been in a good mood all week because I no longer have to deal with the hassle of keys.

We recently had an entryway gate installed (gate to the alcove before you get to the front door). It’s very nice, but I knew it would be better with a smart lock. I searched through many different products but none would work with our single latchbolt gate. The gate itself is not the right thickness for any of the smartlocks I looked at. But then I found this August Wi-Fi smart lock with a keypad option. Eureka!
It simply replaces a deadbolt’s inside thumb latch. The rest of the door hardware remains original. The only obstacle to fit is the diamater of the device itself – as you can see in my pic with the red arrow, it was very tight. I thought I’d have to grind part of the gate away but with the help of a friend, we were able to install it as is.
Install from there was a snap. There are 4 different colored pieces that you need to look at to determine which one best works with your door latch.
The app on my Samsung S22 Ultra works flawlessly, so far. It tells me the door and lock’s condition – open or closed, locked or unlocked. It lets me lock or unlock with my phone, and has a log of activity.
The wireless keypad was also incredibly easy to set up. I mounted it, then the app walked me through the simple setup.
I really could not be happier with this product. The price was very reasonable compared to other smart locks, so I didn’t have to pay a premium for the one I needed.
    5 stars from me.

Comprei para substituir um modelo mais antigo. O app não aceita mais configurações de dispositivos fora dos EUA, então para configurar voce tem que usar uma VPN com um servidor nos EUA

3rd time is a charm as the first two brands I bought had serious issues but I only had slight difficulty connecting this to Wi-Fi and it appear that in app instructions displayed the coloured locking pieces in the wrong orientation but it’s so easy to install i didn’t really need any help. Works well with Alexa and would prefer an option that doesn’t require voice password but I fully understand why it does.

I am not someone who often leaves reviews, but I decided I had to protect other people from experiencing the same frustration I have had with this lock. I purchased the latest Smart Lock, Door Sense and the wireless Keypad. None of them work as advertised. I now have to use a manual key to open the door, which defeats the purpose of buying this overly priced piece of bad technology.

My recommendation is this: if you are super techie and want to waste a lot of time working on a technical problem until you are blue in the face, this product may work for you. If you just need a lock the works – opens and closes the door, this is not the product. Run fast. Find another one that works better.

The installation was ok. The company is trying to go with an Apple-like minimalist approach to delivering the product with very little written instructions. Too few in fact. So I found that I constantly needed to search online for pieces of information to complete the installation, calibrate the lock, install the Doorsense and Keypad. Or they sort of force you to use the August app to do some of the installation, which worked somewhat ok. The app kept hanging during lock calibration, so I never knew if it was set up or not. I am fairly tech savvy and it took about 1 hour total to get it all installed, and some semblance of what appeared to be “working”. That was until I actually tried to use the lock.

The issue is that when installed, the products simply do not work. The software app looks slick, but it doesn’t work. To unlock and lock the door, the software/app on the phone only works about 10% of the time. It takes way to long to show whether the door has been locked or unlocked, and often times is incorrect (maybe issue with their door sense product, or bluetooth chip in the lock????). Sometimes the app shows the door is unlocked when it is really locked, or vice versa. The only way I have found to correct this is to exit the app, and sometimes turn off/on the wifi on my phone. The app does not refresh fast enough so it can literally take about 5 minutes before I can lock and unlock the door. The app is constantly saying the lock has been disconnected from WiFi, which is not correct. At that point the lock is Grayed-out in the app so you can’t do anything with the lock. Once again, close the app, relaunch it and hope it connects to the lock. When I called and emailed August support, they provided very basic troubleshooting and clearly are not interested in really helping resolve the issue. They send pre-canned email responses blaming my WiFi, or bad installation. Not much help and really just pushing the problem away instead of trying to figure it out. I’ve had at least 5 lengthy email exchanges with August support and as you can see I am still running into issues. I’ve tested the WiFi may times when it says this and it has an excellent signal and Internet speed. The WiFi router is less than 20 feet away. At this point I’ve given up and just use an standard key now as the app doesn’t work and neither does the wireless keypad.

Even worse is the wireless keypad. When it’s connected it works about 30% of the time. So for example, I arrive at the house, I enter my 4 digit code into the keypad, hit the enter button, and…..wait for it to do something. Sometimes it opens the lock. Sometimes nothing happens. Then I try again, and again, until eventually, maybe the door unlocks. When I leave and try to use the keypad to lock the door it works seldomly. Maybe after 6 or 7 tries will it actually engage the lock on the door. The BIGGEST issue with the keypad, and the reason it should not be used, is that the batteries run out after about 5 days to 2 weeks, without even being used more than a few times. I cannot rely on this if I need to replace the batteries so often. It is virtually unusable. On my 4th call to August support someone finally mentioned that it may be a bad bluetooth chip. But they did not offer a replacement, only more troubleshooting steps sent via email. When I received the steps they were the exact same ones sent to me by a previous person. Once again, they are aware of their issues, they just can’t fix them because the product and the software is just bad.

I have now spent dozens of hours trying to get this to work, to troubleshoot issues and noone has been able to help or fix anything. My recommendation is this: if you are super techie and want to waste a lot of time working on a technical problem until you are blue in the face, this product may work for you. If you just need a lock the works – opens and closes the door, this is not the product. Run fast. Find another one that works better.
