I ordered this camera for the side of my house, it was easy to install. Just follow the directions, but I used the mount bracket to attach the camera to the wall. The night vision and the motion detection works well. I also used a Mini SD card and the cloud service was available for a small fee I opt out

Great camera for the price! Record’s decently sharp footage. App is also very useful to set smart events and watch clips. The last update greatly improved solar charging.

The fit and feel of the camera is fantastic. The magnetic mount is solid and that part of the setup is without issue. The software setup as well is really straightforward, the “user experience” people at Tapo have thought of everything. The App UI is great and the features are nice.
Ultimately this gets 3 stars after 24 hours because it just doesn’t consistently connect. I got it setup, firmware updates, etc. The nexy day with 100% battery it just does not want to stream the video.
At this point, with these consumer-tech appliances it either *works* or it doesn’t. You plug it in, you turn it on, you open the app and it should just *work*. This one doesn’t.

I love this camera, I bought a 2nd because it’s so good and easy to use. The app that goes with it does not require a subscription saving money. The camera zooms, and is very clear in the day and night. Very easy to install.

Camera seems well made, good videos , motion detection not as good as expected, the two sided tape won’t hold used it to temporarily mount to check location was going to leave it till next day it started raining a little shortly after dark and I heard a noise checked the Camera on the app not a clear picture, went to clean the lens the camera had fallen to the deck and broke the lens .Don’t use the tape!

I’ve been sick of a different company and their seemingly constant security issues so I was in the market for a different company. Landed on Tapo and I have been really impressed. The picture quality, the quickness that it catches events, and the build quality are are all excellent for what you pay. Set up in the app is also very easy. I really love how you don’t need to subscribe to their service to use the camera either.

Me gusta porque es fácil de instalar y es elegante el artículo. Yo lo uso para el interior de la casa en especial para la cochera o garage. No lo he usado en otro lugar. Si vale la pena la compra ya que tiene buena imagen y el precio es justo. Tal vez, me compre otro para mi recámara. Lo recomiendo.

Contemplating leaving Arlo due to the constant increase in month cost, terrible battery life, and other issues I’ve experienced.
Tapo Pros:
Solar panel keeps unit topped up even in little sunlight
Responsive in app, no more delayed notifications
Micro SD storage for up to 512gb
Easy setup
30 days free subscription with no CC required.
Subscription model is manageable
Cost is extremely attractive
Cons:
‘rich’ notifications require subscription
May need different mount for solar panel to get best light depending on where it is installed
Overall excited to see overtime how it compares to arlo. If it does well I will be switching my entire system over.

Easy to set-up and mount (can’ say enough about the mag mount). Great coverage and graphics and I can select to record and/or alarm on any or all of people, autos, pets, or motion. I have used two cameras now for a week, one in front of my home and one in front of my shop covering our yard. They are more than I expected in convenience of use. The battery is said to last 300 days! In over a week of use and testing the batteries still indicate 95%. No subscription necessary when using a micro sd card but I am using both the sd card and cloud. I expect I will subscribe to use the cloud after 30 free days of testing.
